During an attempt to steal an antique painting guarded by Nathan Never, April and May, the girls’ father, Donald Frayn, is killed and their sister July is injured. Afterwards, Nathan is invited to dinner by a friend of his, the student Anthony Russo, but when he arrives at his house he finds him dead. Through Anthony’s girlfriend, Saki, Nathan discovers that one of the boy’s professors, Marcus Modens, has tampered with the dead student’s computer.
