The end of the war has resulted in a fragile balance of powers. A balance that is not merely political. Economic interests are actually a focal point of the relations that are taking shape between the two opposing sides. That’s why the overtures by councilor Joan Grant aimed at rebuilding friendly relations are not well received by the terrestrial economic lobbies, which, after stirring up fanaticism among the most extremist fringe groups of the pro-independence faction, decree the elimination of the councilor. Nathan is then sent onto Melpomene as an undercover agent, with the task of infiltrating the seditious splinter groups. But the only clue he can count on is the name of a villainous individual, the one who might have supplied the killer with the weapon to carry out the attack…
