Martin Mystere and his allies laboriously drive back the invasion of the Damned Court, but the fight between Good and Evil is only postponed, while the count-down towards the year 2000 continues. In the second half of the album, the Detective of the Impossible is first in Cannes and then in the Susa Valley, where he makes acquaintance with the Duchess Solange, whose husband - obsessed by the figure of King Louis XIV - behaves as if he lived in the seventeenth century.
