Java and Martin are guests of the Dukes of Dupont la Ville de la Tour, in their castle in the Susa Valley. After a traumatic accident, the Duke has convinced himself he is a descendant of the Sun King and makes his own “court” dress and behave as if they were in the Seventeenth century. But the castle hides murkier mysteries as well, among which a secret prison where the man with a concealed face is confined, exactly like the seventeenth century prisoner of the Bastille who went down in history as the “Iron Mask”.
