Several ghostly apparitions, in the quaint old district of the beguines, in Bruges, prompt alluring police officer Hanneke to summon our Dampyr. But is it all true, or isn’t it more likely to be just a pretext exploited by the lovelorn young woman as a means of seducing the vampire’s highly strung son? As a matter of fact, the whole idea has no substance and it’s actually quite a different ball game: enterprising Hanneke is no more than a pawn in a bigger and far more dangerous game. A game that began when Harlan was just a kid and was completely unaware of his destiny, living as he did protected by the loving care of three old aunties…
