Moses Hewitt, an old friend of Tex’s, is on the edge of ruin: Mister Hatfield’s bank has refused him a loan to pay the workers of his borax mining company, and the competitors of the Nevada Borax Company use underhand methods, forcing the poor Shoshones – deported to Death Valley with false promises – to work as slaves! Willer’s intervention persuades the banker to give credit to Moses, but someone who doesn’t see the meddlers in a good light begins to weave a deadly plot.
