Furnace Creek, in Death Valley, is a sort of extermination camp for the Shoshones, forced to mine borax twelve hours a day by the Nevada Company jailers! But Tex and Kit Willer dismantle the shady network of hired ruffians and sordid recruiters of ingenuous Indians, and eventually they discover the identity of the Nevada’s true owner! The following summer, the sheriff of Durango asks Tex and Carson for help in expectation of the rivers of money that will flow in town during the Independence Day celebrations. And, in fact, a gang of robbers is already making evil plans, considering escape… in a hot air balloon!
