From Escalante the pards and Montales head for Chihuahua to arrest Governor Zamora. Having eliminated General Velasco, our heroes entice Colonel Olivera and the vile traitor “Cobra” Galindez into a trap! Thus Montales becomes governor, while Brooke and Cantrell, the scoundrels of Tucson who wanted Tex underground, are thrown into the cooler. A while later, having arrived in Holbrook to purchase a herd, the pards are informed by the sheriff that an underhand speculator by the name of Patton is about to take over the county and that his final obstacle is the honest breeder, MacKenzie.
