Someone kidnapped Icaro La Plume, and is employing his aeronautical genius to draw and create flying contraptions. While investigating the Baron’s and his stepdaughter Scarlet’s disappearance, Zagor goes on the tracks of the criminals led by the ruthless Mister Rope, an unscrupulous scientist who wants to use his discoveries to get rich. Caught by the gang and brought inside their base, on top of an inaccesible rock, the Spirit-with-the-Hatchet realizes that the threat posed by Rope and his small army of faitfhul soldiers is more dangerous that what he thought. They can threaten the United States as a whole!
