On the road to Fort Black, where Jim Brandon is stationed, the pards are intercepted by the Fox Indians, alerted by the half-breed, Lacoste, and by his helper, Ko-Wan. Lacoste, with his stone hut on the banks of the Saskatchewan, acts as an exchange point for the nuggets with which the Indians pay for the arms. Before ending up in hell, the half-breed blurts out the affair to Tex: Monsieur Bonnet’s real objective is to get his hands on the rich gold deposits of those cold lands! But meanwhile, Kit Willer has fallen into the claws of the bellicose Native Americans, who are already on the warpath…
