Texas Bill and Old Kit: these are the stage names chosen by Tex and Kit Carson for their role as representatives of the Law in Canyon Diablo, where the honest inhabitants are fed up of the harassment and blackmail by the ugly mugs who hold the township in thrall, stopping the railway from advancing. The heart of the criminal goings-on in town is the Devil’s Luck, illicitly built right in front of the last fragment of the South-Pacific tracks, a sleazy saloon where the gambler and card sharper Slim Colter and the venomous dancer Lena Bond hold sway.
