When young Mal is found unconscious at the controls of a small rescue craft that has made an emergency landing on Earth, his father, Carter E. Grantham, entrusts Nathan with the task of finding his other offspring, namely his daughter, Gail, who’s apparently run away from home together with the guy. Thanks to the help of a journalist who’s an old friend of his, the Alfa special agent manages to trace the mother spaceship that the module was released from. But during the investigations it becomes clear that someone is trying to mount a cover-up… and to get rid of dangerous witnesses once and for all. Meanwhile SRD (Space Research Development), the company of which Grantham is the General Director, is about to start testing a new type of propulsion engine designed to carry out the hyperspatial leap…
