Aristotele Skotos, head of the sect of the Divine Presence, convenes a Council of the major religious sects of the planet. The delegation of representatives of the various cults that travel to Erato, the orbiting station where the Council is to be held, include Nathan Never among their ranks, as he’s been hired by Joan Rotala, the spiritual guide of an important congregation, to be in charge of security. But the Council will soon turn out to be the checker-board on which the web of obscure political intrigues is played out, under the orders of the contenders who are bent on eliminating awkward adversaries…
