While in Montana, the survivors of the Band of the Innocents get together, in Tucson one of the gang dies in a shootout with Carson. Having found a clue in the dead man’s pocket, the old reprobate goes to Bannock, to the gang’s rendezvous. On the pard’s trail, Tex tells his son about Carson’s past, of his friendship with Sheriff Clemmons, of the beautiful singer, Lena, and of when the Innocents attacked an Overland stagecoach escorted by Capelli d’Argento.
