The encircling maneuver works: the pards ensnare and capture the perpetrators of the Pueblito bloodbath and free the two Indian hostages who were being forced to guide the blackguards to the Colorado gold. All that the bandits manage to see of that river is its boiling waters: on the orders of Aquila della Notte, they are left at the mercy of the waves on a fragile canoe… and without paddles! Some time later, finding himself with a dead horse after a conflict with three Apache thugs, Tex gets onto the stage-coach bound for Tombstone; but at the Dry Creek trading post the passengers are confronted by a ruffianly foursome who’d been lying in wait there to launch a hold-up on a load of silver being transported through the area.
