Having defeated the Comancheros and saved two miners from the rebel Indians, Tex and Carson try to persuade Apache Kid to turn away from the path of revenge. All in vain: Kid is killed by the breeders and his body is barbarously mutilated. The following autumn, the pards discover an atrocious criminal project: Nick Billing, a greedy Bureau of Indian Affairs agent from Great Falls, has sentenced the peaceful tribe of Dakotas, guided by Father Fulton, to death from starvation and cold by cutting off their supplies. Their extermination would allow the loathsome individual to gain possession of the gold deposits in the area.
