It was Lucero’s hatred for the white invaders of the Apache land that turned him into a raider, and drove him towards the dream of a sort of small and rich independent nation for the Mescalero people. But all the blood spilt now screams for revenge: by means of a ruse, Tex and his pards capture Nico Medranos, Lucero’s right hand man, and then set a trap for the wild Indian, gravely wounding him before watching him ride away. Very soon the whole organisation collapses: the Indian robbers, camouflaged as Mexican shepherds, are finally unmasked.
