Having foiled the attack of a band of Seneca Indians who tried to kill him, Zagor finds himself facing a disturbing threat that does not only involve him as the Spirit with the Hatchet, but all the peoples of the six Iroquois nations and their sakems.

An unexpected ally arrives to help the hero of Darkwood and also eager to resolve the matter: Tonka, the brave chief of the Mohawk tribe. Together, the two will have to unmask a conspiracy that seems to have been hatched by the gods of the Native American pantheon, incredibly unleashed against the very peoples who honor them, the target of strange spells and curses.
