Among the many “great heroes” created by Gianluigi Bonelli during his long career, Furio deserves a special place for two reasons: his physical strength and… his date of birth! “The man with the iron fist,” in fact, first appeared on newsstands back in 1941, in the pages of Audace magazine, and immediately won readers’ sympathy, outshining the musclemen who were so fashionable at the time. In 1961, Bonelli decided to bring back his boxer-vigilante, “refreshed” by the agile artwork of Franco Bignotti, in a more modern booklet format.
