Strange things are happening at the camp where the wood-cutters are working for monsieur Leroux. Thefts, objects being tampered with, fatal accidents… But the Frenchman is a friend of Gros-Jean and the gigantic trapper has among his acquaintances a couple of hell-raisers, down there, in the hot lands, who are not particularly inclined to tolerate injustice.
