The story of the City of Diaphanous Shadows comes to an end and a new adventure begins for the Detective of the Impossible. The crew of the Vespucci Space Shuttle, orbiting around the Earth, is the victim of an inexplicable phenomenon. While they are passing over Iraq, the astronauts suffer from terrible visions. Returning to base on Earth, almost all the crew die in an attack. Martin Mystère is called to investigate.
