Legs is hired by the rich industrialist Harris Lindeman to trace an old flame of his, Afra Olsen, who Lindeman hasn’t heard from in years. But the mission could turn out to be more difficult than was foreseen. The point is that Afra Olsen is a well-known entomologist, and her research is funded by no less than S.I.M., the army Secret Services, who are bent on exploiting her discoveries for war-mongering purposes. But Afra has gone missing and only the recent deaths of some scientists whose demise is attributable to insect stings give Harris an inkling that she may be still alive…
