Consumed with hatred for Tex, who caused his brother’s death, Rocky Durbin (who today calls himself Burnett) sends his hired ruffians to help Kit Willer escape from the Nogales jail where he ended up after a fight. Piccolo Falco, delivered to Cuchillo Negro’s ferocious Apaches, becomes human bait! Only Tex’s intervention avoids the worst and settles the account with Durbin. Months later, while Tex and Nuvola Rossa dream sinister omens of death, a group of scalp hunters, under the orders of the alcalde of Santa Rita del Cobre, meditates a massacre at the expense of Juan Josè’s peaceful Apaches.
