While the pards find an ally in Macredy – a Pinkerton agent who pretends to be a journalist in order to investigate Larson – the truth begins to surface. Leaving them to drown in a frozen lake, the scout Larsen had gotten rid of the ugly mugs who he was guiding on the Teton Range with a load of gold, fruit of a robbery, and had then asked the ranger Malone for help. Now the other members of the gang – Butler, Griffin and an unknown organizer – must make him squeal in order to recover the booty! But greediness drives the ne’er-do-wells to slit each others’ throats, with the help of Wanekay’s ferocious Shoshones.
