The soldiers rout Nokal’s Apaches, who are besieging the pards at Squaw Peak. Not all of the “blue coats” are good soldiers like those who have come to Tex’s aid: Sergeant Evans, for example, is allied with the Las Vegas underworld to carry out a robbery on a load of the army’s gold. Kit Carson, enlisted as an escort for the transport, is stunned by a blow to the head and replaced by a look-alike, but Tex’s intervention foils the bandits’ plans! Meanwhile, the ranchero, Bill Dutton, is unjustly accused of murdering the card-sharper, Pete Poker: there are lands and stolen cattle behind the frame up...
