Frankie Flanagan, an old friend of Zagor’s, has been killed in cold blood, after finding gold on the pebbly bank of a river that crossed his property. The murder is imputed to the band of “Dakota” Dick, a robber that strikes in the same region. Is that right, though? On arriving in Green River, Zagor and Cico begin their investigation, looking for the murderer’s tracks. Meanwhile, Frankie’s young daughter, Francine, is in danger, sieged in her ranch by the men of the sinister Mister Deamon, who wants to sieze the land of the Flanagans.
