Zagor and Cico, who’ve been wandering and traveling around for months, finally get back to America. But before reaching their camp in the swamp, they have a curious encounter. As they make their way through the trading-point of Pleasant Point – which is an access point by river for anyone heading towards Darkwood – they happen to meet a rather unusual wayfarer: an English lord, Sir Albert Lancaster, Duke of Greenshire. Zagor decides to act as his guide amid the dangers lurking in the impenetrable forest, where there is already someone skulking in the shadows further up the trail, someone who is lying in wait until they come closer and is preparing to pounce with a gun in hand…
