Going into the service of Charles Moore was the salvation of a young woman, Joan Dunne. After her father’s death, her bookshop in Dublin was wrecked by debts and Joan was forced to take up a menial task, as if she was a character from a novel à-la Jane Eyre. Sir Charles is mysterious and unapproachable just like the Victorian novels heroes: he lives a confined life inside his house, has strange eating habits and surrounds himself with strange young men and depraved-looking girls, who sleep during the day. To further complicate the mystery, Moore’s house is surveilled by unknown enemies of his. Joan chooses to save her employer, who she’s beginning to fall for: she’s even ready to give him her blood, without faltering when she hears his incredible story. Almost 2000 years before, Oenghus Mordha already had to face an enemy of his stock: a dampyr!...
