With the inglorious end of the boss of Canyon Diablo, Tom Clebber, done for by a bullet from one of his own henchmen, the gang that had got its claws into the dusty town breaks up and the interrupted railway can start off again. Some time afterwards, having found an old acquaintance at Springerville, the elderly sheriff Tom Kenyon, Tex offers to back him up in the task of capturing of a young bandit, the fair-haired Andy Wilson. The outlaw, who is hiding amongst the cowboys at Double B Ranch, escapes after having badly wounded the hoary-headed United States Marshall! Tex finds him and confronts him on Skeleton Trail, in the Las Piedras desert.
