It is the end for the Brentons: the last of them is caught at Fort Reno while trying to fob off stolen horses to the army. A while later, on the Pecos, Tex clashes with the gang of Lily Bent, the Queen of Spades: that’s the playing card her hired-ruffians use to pèull a fast one and extort money from the cowboys. Having discarded the Queen, it’s then the Ace of Spades’ turn: this is the derisive signature of a murderous hand that is killing the Pinkerton agents who perform the task of escorting the Blue Star boats, patronized by professional gamblers, on the Mississippi. Mac Parland entrusts the pards with delivering the wicked gamblers to justice.
