Closed up within the deserted walls of Fort Quitman, packed in cheek by jowl, the settlers and convicts led by Tex constitute the last bastion holding out against the invasion of the marauding bands of Comanches. The ranger has no option but to arm the prisoners, but how can one trust the word of men the world has declared to be bandits?
