In Glenwood, where he had gone to hunt down a cattle thief, Tex accepts the vacant office of sheriff to investigate the Disemboweler, a mysterious killer who has already killed three women! The journalist, Herbert Addison, a friend of the ranger’s, is convinced that the crimes are connected to analogous bloody deeds taken place years earlier in Scotland. Meanwhile, the powerful local squire, Vance Holden, determined to help his supervisor, Larry Casey, imprisoned for having killed an Indian, escape, pays some ruffians to set Sally McGuire’s isolated ranch on fire, thus driving Tex out of town.
