On a stormy evening, Tex, Carson and the travelers on a stagecoach take refuge in the Wallaces’ gloomy inn on Skeleton Pass. The slimy Blackton molests young Terry Wallace and her brother Jess defends her, waving a knife around: the next morning, Blackton is found killed and robbed. Two passengers run away, but after being stopped by the rangers’ bullets, we discover that they had only plundered the body. Who is the murderer then? And why do the Wallaces keep newspaper clippings concerning similar crimes taken place years earlier in Boston, their city of origin?
