Tex and Carson, having overcome the Rio Janos rapids, entrust the Apaches’ families to the monks of the Ascensiòn mission. Months later, headed for Jackson to investigate the death of the ranger Malone, the pards save a certain Larson from three ruffians. The local underworld, controlled by the wicked Butler on behalf of a mysterious figure, is agitated. A hired ruffian is used by the boss as a scapegoat to close the Malone case, which seems to be connected to a foul deed of cannibalism that had involved Larsen himself, sole survivor of a caravan blocked on the Teton Range the preceding winter.
