Though decimated by the Indio bravos and slowed down by the saboteurs that hide among the marines escorting them, the expedition to the Isthmus of Panama manages to leave the kingdom of the ferocious Guaymì. The territory of Cayapa’s Cunas is no less dangerous: Tex and Kit, in order to leave the village alive where they had gone to hold a parlay, must take the tribal chief hostage, finding out that he had been loaded with gifts by the mysterious enemies, precisely to hinder the mission! But, in the end, the moment of the rendering of accounts arrives, when Tex discovers the face of the traitor who previously appeared quite beyond suspicion!
