It is not often that one gets a chance to see a ranger hanging from a tree like the ugliest of cut-throats! Tex and Carson were heading towards Cortez to join up with their colleague – who was tracking four vicious bank robbers – but the Cavalieri della Giustizia, hooded vigilantes, had got there before them: the ranger Regan, wounded during a shoot-out with a gang of bandits and mistaken for one of their members, had been lynched and shamefully strung up! The two pards, determined to throw some light on this nasty affair, suddenly become two nosey-parkers who must be eliminated because they’re really getting in the way.
