Having unmasked the elusive Proteus, the Rangers descend on Clay, summoned by Pat Mac Ryan: the giant Irishman is the guardian angel of Karen Riley, a beautiful girl whose ranch rises on a rich oil-field. The rich fuel unleashes the greed of Standish Oil, the property of two greedy brothers who have transformed the town of Clay into their personal fief, and only the “good manners” of the pards persuade the scoundrels to give up! Meanwhile, a handful of ragged prisoners, led by Tom Boker, escape from the tough Yuma penitentiary to go and retrieve an old bundle.
