Raskar, decrepit queen of the coyotes, to whom Mai-Koo has turned on the advice of the witch doctor Tabual, gives him one of her puppies as a guide to the Savage Lands, the kingdom of the ferocious Indian tribe of the Red Dogs! Mai-Koo is tortured to death and the Sabinas’ totem is recovered by Too-Nai. Tex and Tiger Jack, seeking to shed light on an obscure prophecy of the Red Dogs, push on to the lost City of Gold, inhabited by heirs of the Conquistadores and subject to the Black Prince. Years ago the tyrant deprived the good duke of Medina of power and the prophet Nostradamus now sees black clouds of misfortune approaching...
