On an asteroid near a black hole, a probe detects a structure that appears to resemble a terrestrial spaceship—even though no such vessel has ever been reported missing. Nathan is assigned to escort the mission sent to uncover the truth behind the discovery. As if that weren’t enough, subsequent scans reveal that the object’s shape differs greatly from the one initially recorded by the probe. Nathan decides to land on the asteroid with the robotic unit F2.
