Bonelli Heroes Preview 2024
It will be a year full of adventures and traveling, Martin Mystère’s 2024: he will immediately be on a mission – lucky him! – in sunny San Jose, California, to investigate the most eccentric, and some say most haunted, house in the U.S., Winchester House. Once, it was home to Sarah Winchester, the widow of weapons mogul William Winchester, known for the eponymous rifle that had, for better or for worse, a significant impact on the settling of the American West. The mansion will see Martin & Java launching to the search for Bobby, a child who vanished inside its walls during a sightseeing trip. To rescue him, our hero will have to venture into a parallel dimension where time and space blend, in this two-part story written by Giovanni Eccher with art by Valentino Forlini and Max Avogadro. There, a terrifying, hungry creature has been in ambush for over a century.
Following the "frightening buildings" theme, in March/April, there will be another double adventure written by Sergio Badino with art by Antonio Sforza. Following the story of Rudolf, the hereditary prince son of Empress Sissi, this time, our Detective of the Impossible moves to the Bavarian Alps, where the glum Eagle’s Nest, Hitler’s former refuge, is located. Its entrails are roamed by the Gankerl, monstrous creatures out of the local folklore.
In May, Martin returns to his (and our) beloved Italy in a stand-alone story by Mirko Perniola with art by Italo Mattone. In Turin, he’ll find himself amid a paranormal situation involving séances, mesmeric experiments, and eerie phone calls from the Otherside. He’ll be on a mission to uncover the enigmatic “Caronte’s Formula”, a mystery that ties together some of Italy’s greatest writers, from Dante to Pirandello, from Manzoni to Capuana.
Then, another double story, this time by Diego Cajelli and Massimo Cipriani, who will take the Good Old Uncle Marty back to his New York City, only to have him clash against one of the hottest and most controversial present-day topics: the use and abuse of artificial intelligence.
We’ll stop here, not to spoil you the surprise. Still, we can already tell you that, in autumn, Martin Mystère’s regular series will host a long-awaited event: a new “team up” between the Detective of the Impossible and the Alfa Special Agent, Nathan Never. A four-part story conceived by Adriano Barone that will start on Martin’s pages, then continue and end on Nathan’s. An event you don’t want to miss. Here, you can preview some exceptional pages created by Giulio Giordano and Salvatore Cuffari.
As usual, we will also have our Summer Speciale, by Alex Dante, and the return of Angie, Dee & Kelly in the Christmas-themed adventure by the well-oiled quartet formed by the writers Enrico Lotti & Alessandro Mainardi and the already mentioned artists, Valentino Forlini & Max Avogadro.
Have a nice read!
