Only Zagor can prove the innocence of Gambit, the attractive adventurer who has been sentenced to death after killing a gambler inside a hotel room. She was surprised in there, literally holding the smoking gun the man had been shot with. The only clue Zagor has leads him to the ranch of Mister Wallardy, an arrogant landowner who had been cleaned out at the poker table by the beautiful girl, the night before the murder.
