Creature from the Black Lagoon.
In this case, Sergio’s favorites were classic movies that hadn’t any technological or futuristic features, and could be labeled as "fantasy-adventurous". Many of the monsters that Sergio Bonelli had seen on the silver screen later appeared in the comics he wrote.
For instance, Jack Arnold’s Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) – set in the Amazon in the same years when Mister No was living there – whose slimy amphibious mutant will become one of Zagor’s foes; the alien monoliths from The Monolith Monsters (1957), by John Sherwood, appear in other classic story of the Darkwood King, Odissea americana; the big, bad spider from Tarantula (1955), also directed by Jack Arnold, is the inspiration for the horrible giant cockroaches that Mister No faces in the episode I giorni del terrore. Even some shabby B-movies like The Alligator People (1959), directed by Roy Del Ruth, had a cozy place in Sergio’s heart.
