My name is Dragonero

A dragon hunter, a scout for the Empire, a man trying to keep order in the Erondàr.

Ian Aranill, génhu Varliedarto, the main character of the series, is a 34-year old human, tall and well-built. Born in a fief with a long landowning tradition, south-west from the Awrashùre, Ian is self-assured, brave though not reckless, with a well-balanced personality built from hard training and military discipline. Our hero is a former Empire officer, who left the military career to join the scouts’ corps. His duty are many kind of missions, that take him to travel extensively through the lands of the Empire and beyond. Above all, though, Ian is a Varliedarto, a member of the ancient family of the “Dragon Slayers”; that’s why Alben the Wizard enlisted him for a mission that will bring Ian to face and kill a Dragon (the episode narrated in the Romanzo a Fumetti “Dragonero”).
At that time, after accidentally drinking the Dragon’s blood, Ian will receive some peculiar abilities: during situations of great danger he can slow down time; he’s able to spot and see things and people outside of his field of vision; he can connect with non-human sentient creatures; and his blood has a harmful effect on the evil creatures from the Abominables’ world. The sword Ian totes, “Cruel Cutter”, was left to him by his paternal grandfather, Herion, a Varliedarto just like him. That’s the weapon Ian killed his first Dragon with, and it was at that time that the sword turned black. Ian keeps a journal where he records the customs and traditions of the populations he meets, jots down something about the flora and fauna of the places he visits, the people he encounters and even the inns and taverns where he stays, as well as sensibile data about his role as an imperial scout. Ian lives, with his friend Gmor the Orc and an Elf lady, Sera, in the sea city of Solian, an important trading port, East of the Empire, that belongs to a confederation of free towns. Here Ian is periodically contacted by the Empire autorithies to go on his missions in faraway lands.
